Hebron Municipality Getting Ready to Sign Cooperation Agreement with Ghent, Belgium

In the meeting with Mr. Hassan Balawi, First Counselor at the Mission of the State of Palestine to the EU, Belgium and Luxembourg, the Mayor of Hebron, Mr. Tayseer Abu Sneineh, discussed the remaining procedures to sign a Cooperation  Agreement between the cities of Hebron, Palestine and Ghent, Belgium. The meeting was also attended by Ms. Dima Alarqan, Head of Programs at the Palestinian International Cooperation Agency PICA, and a staff of the Strategic Planning and International Relation Department at Hebron Municipality.

This twinning agreement will focus on the University Education, and the historic heritage, since the city of Ghent is considered as one of the oldest and most famous historical cities that has a large number of universities.

Thereafter, Mr. Abu Sneineh praised the efforts of the Palestinian Embassy to Belgium and The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the State of Palestine in providing the logistic support to Hebron Municipality to sign the twinning agreement with the Ghent City, and added that this agreement will enhance the academic situation of Hebron City, and will affect positively on the historic heritage, particularly after inscribing Hebron on the UNESCO’s World Heritage List.

Moreover, Mr. Abu Sneineh briefed the delegation about the latest political development of Hebron City, and about the Israeli Occupation illegal policies that aimed at displacing the Palestinian from their lands and homes. Then, the delegation toured the old city of Hebron where they got a first-hand view of the reality on the ground.
