    Abu Sneineh Discusses Signing Twinning Agreement with German Municipalities


    In the meeting with a delegation comprised of German Municipalities and German institutions representatives that chaired by the Mayor of Jenna, Dr. Albrecht Schroter, and the Deputy Mayor of Colon , Mr. Andres Walter, the Mayor of Hebron, Mr. Tayseer Abu Sneineh  discussed the opportunities of signing twinning agreements between Hebron Municipality and German Municipalities.

    After welcoming the delegation, the Mayor expressed happiness at the German Palestinian deep relation,  and praised the German positive stance to support the Palestinian people and cause. He referred to the ruling that puts Hebron on UNESCO's World Heritage list,  which is considered as an affirmation on the cultural Heritage of the City, and put Hebron on " in danger list" is designed to alert the international community to endangered sites such the Old City, where few hundred Jewish settlers live under a heavy Israeli military protection, that threatens the security and stability of more than 60000 citizens.  Also, Mr. Abu Sneienh spoke about the recent Israeli military illegal order to establish what is calling "a Hebron's settlers' affairs council" in the heart of Hebron city ,and described it as a grave violation of Hebron Protocol signed in 1997. 

    On the other part, Dr. Schroter thanks the Mayor for the warm reception and hospitality, and expressed his readiness to provide support to Hebron municipality through the federation of German municipalities. He then added that he will convey the reality of what is going on the ground particularly the last decision of the Israeli occupation to format  a local settlers' council, to the Germany Foreign Ministry, and raise this issue to the public opinion.
