Mayor of Hebron meets with Mr. Ahmad Junaid, the Head of Culture Unit at the UNESCO's office in Palestine. In the meeting which was attended by members of municipal council, and Mr. Imad Hamdan, the Director of HRC, the opportunity of the UNESCO's support to Hebron Municipality in protecting the cultural heritage of the city, was among issues discussed in the meeting, particularly after the inscription of Hebron's Old city on the UNESCO's World Heritage List- in danger list.
After welcoming the delegation, Mr. Abu Sneineh underlined that Hebron municipality is exerting much efforts to safeguard the Cultural heritage, and the historical sites in the city which reflects the Palestinian identity. He also briefed the delegation about the challenges and the obstacles imposed by the Israeli Occupation and settlers that faced the municipality while providing services to the citizens in the Old city.
Mr. Junaid expressed pride at Hebron Municipality achievement in the inscription of the Old city on the UNESCO' WHL, and expressed the UNESCO's willingness to cooperate with Hebron Municipality to protect the cultural heritage of the city, and to support each project aims at promoting the historical sites in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.
