The Mayor of Hebron, Dr. Daoud Zatari asked the American Consul, Mr. Donald Blome, to put pressure on the Israeli Occupation to facilitate carrying out development projects in Hebron H2 area by the municipal employees, and to provide further support to the city of Hebron through releasing the on hold funds allocated by the USA government to many development projects in Palestine . These projects will enhance the economic development particularly to Hebron City such as the Rehabilitation of the Northern Eastern Entrance of Hebron as well as the Industrial Road in the Southern area , which will serve the heavy vehicles and alleviate the traffic jam of the City.
This meeting which was attended by Dr. Salah Al Hussaini, Hebron Council Member, and Mr. James Toner, Head of Economic Department at the U.S Consulate, aimed at putting lights on the affected citizens and their bad living conditions especially who live in areas adjacent to settlements. Dr. Zatari also spoke about the role played by various European Institutions in supporting Palestinians, defending their rights and confronting Israeli settlement policies that aimed at preventing the creation of a Palestinian State and the two-state solution.
Moreover, Dr. Zatari praised the support extended by the USAID to improve the quality of life for the people of Hebron throughout many development projects.
On the other part, Consul Blome expressed willingness to help in increasing the share of funds for Hebron Municipality to ensure implementing the largest possible number of vital projects.
