Hebron Municipality took part in the 3rd Annual Gathering of Milan Urban Food policy Pact (MUFPP), which was held in Valencia, Spain. The Municipality was represented by Dr. Jihad Owaiwi, Municipal Councilor, and Bilal Muhtaseb, Head of Public Relation at the Municipality.
During the speech of Hebron Municipality, Dr. Owaiwi spoke about the situation of Hebron, and the suffering of the Old City citizens as a result of the Israeli Occupation and the settlers' illegal practices. He added that the municipality of Hebron, in line with its strategic plan, aims at supporting the city's food security policy. Also, he said that the municipality seeks to support the implementation of a modern automatic slaughterhouse, a solid waste management projects to convert the solid waste into fertilizer, as well as, a large wastewater treatment plant to then use the treated water in the agriculture sector.
By the end of the speech, Dr. Owaiwi thanked the gathering organizers for inviting Hebron Municipality and giving it the opportunity to present its plans and activities in the field of sustainable food security. thereafter, he invited the participants to have a visit to Hebron to get a first-hand view of the situation on the ground and to build mutual ties with its municipality in different fields.
