    Hebron Mayor Briefs World Mayors about Hebron's Suffering


    During the participation of the Mayor of Hebron, Mr. Tayseer Abu Sneineh, in the Global Parliament of Mayors Conference (GPM), which was held in Stavanger, Norway, Mr. Abu Sneineh briefed more than 65 Mayors about the suffering of Hebron as a result of the city's division in to two parts, the illegal presence of settlers in the city, as well as the recent escalation due to the Occupation's illegal decision to establish a Hebron's settlers' affairs council in the heart of Hebron.

    The Mayor was accompanied by Mr. Maher Owaiwi, Mayor's Advisor for Municipal affairs, and Mr. Bilal Muhtaseb, Head of Public Relation in Hebron Municipality.

    Thereafter, Mr. Abu Sneineh honored the Mayor of Stavanger, Mr. Christine Sagen, and called the participants of World's Mayors to visit Hebron City with a view to get a first-hand view of the reality on the ground. He also called them to put pressure on the Israeli Occupation to reverse this grave and racial decision to from a local council for the illegal settlers, which goes against all international treaties and laws.

    On the sidelines of the conference, Mr. Abu Sneineh met with the Mayor of Valencia, Mr. Joan Ribó, who underlined the necessity of Mayor of Hebron participation in the coming conference of Global Food Security which will be held in the context of October, 2017.
