Hebron Mayor meets with a delegation from the Indonesian city of Makasser and briefs them about the situation in Hebron

Mayor of Hebron, Tayseer Abu Sneineh, met Thursday with a delegation from the Indonesian city of Makasser, which included a number of engineers and representatives of a number of government institutions, in the presence of members of the Municipal Council and the General Directorof Hebron Electricity at the Municipality.

Abu Sneineh briefed the Indonesian delegation on the situation in the city of Hebron, explaining the daily suffering of the residents of the Old City and the closed areas adjacent to the settlements, as a result of the continued existence of occupation checkpoints that impede the movement of citizens, which recently prevented the arrival of Hebron Municipality fire brigades in time for a burnt house, causing the death of three innocent children. Pointing to the importance of having international observers to document the attacks of the occupation and settlers, which increased in frequency after the termination of the International Presence mission (TIPH), so that the false and distorted Israeli narrative of the facts is the only narrative heard, which threatens to have more checkpoints that disturb the citizens lives and violate their most basic right to move freely.

Abu Sneineh praised the historical relationship between the Palestinian and Indonesian peoples, praising their continued support for the Palestinian people through several projects in various fields such as infrastructure, education and health projects, both in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, pointing to the Cooperation and twinning agreement, which connects Hebron Municipality to the Indonesian Municipality of Makasser, which took place late last year.

The guest delegation was pleased with this visit to the historic city of Hebron, which is a destination for tourists and visitors, to learn about the most important historical and religious monuments.
