Hebron Municipality, in cooperation with the Local Governance Reform Programme (LGRP) at German Cooperation (GIZ) as well as  the Association of Palestinian Local Authorities (APLA) organized a workshop entitled "Geographic Information System (GIS) and Data Base". The workshop was in the attendance of Mr. Tayseer Abu Sneineh, Mayor of Hebron, Mr. Jehad Shaksheir , Deputy Director of LGRP, Mr. Twfiq Nassar, Director of Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics and other representatives of Palestinian local authorities in West Bank.

The workshop aims to put light on the Municipalities of Ramallah, Hebron and Beitounia scope of work in field of Geographic Information System, in order to enhance the services provided to citizens and to share experiences between the municipalities.

In his speech, Mr. Abu Sneineh welcomed the attendees, and appreciated the supportive role of Germany Government through the GIZ , and underlined that Hebron Municipality is always aiming at adopting new administrative policies to improve the quality of services to Hebron citizens.

Moreover, Mr. Shakhsher stressed the importance of exchanging expertise and technical information among local bodies, and added that this workshop is a part of Strategic Development Investment Plan of GIZ. He also noted to the significant progress of some municipalities in the field of GIS, of which Hebron municipality 0is one of them.

During the workshop, Mr. Nassar made a presentation about the work of the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics and the national team for the census of population and housing in Hebron Governorate.
